Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) | Full-Time | Modern Private Practice

Smilestyle Dental Studio • Full-time • San Diego, CA, US • $28 - $32 / hour • 21h ago

We're Looking for More Than an RDA. We're Looking for Someone Who Takes Ownership.

Are you the kind of dental assistant who is always thinking one step ahead?

You anticipate what the doctor needs, notice when something isn't running smoothly, help your teammates without being asked, and take pride in keeping the clinical day organized and efficient.

If that sounds like you, we'd love to meet you!

SmileStyle Dental Studio is looking for an experienced, confident, and proactive Registered Dental Assistant who brings strong clinical skills, a positive attitude, and natural leadership qualities.

We believe clinical skills and character go hand in hand.

We can teach you our technology, systems, and workflows. But we're looking for someone who already brings initiative, accountability, strong clinical fundamentals, and a genuine desire to help the entire team succeed.

About SmileStyle

We're a modern, technology-driven, comprehensive dental practice in San Diego focused on exceptional patient experiences, advanced dentistry, and long-term patient relationships.

Our SmileStyle 360 philosophy considers the complete picture: healthy gums, healthy teeth, a healthy bite, a beautiful smile, and the connection between oral and overall health.

We provide comprehensive restorative dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, Invisalign, and advanced treatment planning using modern digital technology.

Our core values are Connection, Excellence, Trust, Integrity, Accountability, and Compassion.

We're continuously improving our systems, developing our team, and creating an environment where people take pride in their work and support one another.

What You'll Do

Clinical Excellence & Chairside Assisting

Confidently assist with general, restorative, cosmetic, and comprehensive dental procedures.
Anticipate the doctor's needs and maintain an efficient clinical workflow.
Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and materials before procedures.
Take digital X-rays, intraoral scans, photographs, and assist with other digital workflows within your scope of practice.
Maintain excellent infection control, sterilization, and clinical organization.
Ensure patients feel comfortable, informed, and cared for throughout their visits.
Maintain accurate clinical documentation and communicate effectively with the doctor and front office.

Ownership, Initiative & Teamwork

Stay ahead of the schedule and prepare for what's coming next.
Recognize problems early and help find solutions.
Take ownership of assigned responsibilities and follow through without constant reminders.
Help teammates when they need support, even when a task isn't part of your usual responsibilities.
Maintain organized treatment rooms, supplies, and clinical systems.
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, patient care, and team communication.
Lead by example through professionalism, accountability, and a positive attitude.

Who We're Looking For

Required:

Active California RDA license.
At least 2 years of hands-on dental assisting experience, preferably in a busy general or comprehensive dental practice.
Strong chairside assisting skills and familiarity with restorative procedures.
Ability to anticipate the doctor's needs and work efficiently with minimal direction.
Excellent communication and patient care skills.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Dependability, professionalism, and consistent follow-through.
Confidence using dental technology and learning new workflows.
A positive, coachable, team-first attitude.

You'll Thrive Here If You:

Naturally take initiative rather than waiting to be told what to do.
Think ahead and prepare for the next patient or procedure.
Notice when a teammate needs help and step in.
Take pride in creating an exceptional patient experience.
Stay calm, organized, and solution-focused during busy days.
Welcome feedback and continuously look for ways to improve.
Take responsibility when something goes wrong and help fix it.
Enjoy learning advanced dentistry and new technology.
Want to contribute ideas and help make the practice better.
Have leadership qualities, whether or not you've previously held a leadership title.

We believe leadership is demonstrated through actions, not job titles.

Bonus Skills

Experience with any of the following is a plus:

Invisalign workflows
CEREC
iTero or other intraoral scanners
NOMAD digital radiography
3D printing and digital dentistry
Clinical photography
Cosmetic dentistry and smile makeovers
Eaglesoft
Clinical inventory management or team training

You don't need experience with every technology listed. What's most important is having strong clinical fundamentals and the ability to learn and adapt quickly.

What We Offer

$28–$32/hour, based on relevant experience and demonstrated capabilities.
Opportunities for performance-based bonuses.
Health insurance, subject to eligibility.
401(k) with employer contributions, subject to plan terms.
Paid vacation.
Employee dental benefits.
Continuing education and professional development.
Exposure to advanced restorative, cosmetic, and digital dentistry.
Opportunities to take on additional responsibilities and grow into a Lead Assistant or Clinical Leadership role based on demonstrated performance.

Our Philosophy: One Team, One Patient Experience

At SmileStyle, we don't believe in “that's not my job.”

Everyone has primary responsibilities, but exceptional patient care requires the entire team to work together.

If a room needs to be turned over, a patient needs assistance, the doctor needs support, or a teammate is overwhelmed, we step in and help.

We're looking for someone who doesn't just complete their own tasks but takes pride in helping the entire clinical team succeed.

Our ideal RDA doesn't need someone constantly telling them what to do next. They see what needs to happen, take action, communicate, and follow through.
